Owen Bowden-Jones

Catherine MouryDr Owen Bowden-Jones is a Consultant in Addiction Psychiatry and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College in the Division of Brain Science.

In 2010, he founded the Club Drug Clinic, the UK's largest multi-disciplinary service for people using 'legal highs' and 'club drugs'. Since opening, the service has received over 1000 referrals and treated over 500 patients.

Dr Bowden-Jones leads project NEPTUNE, an evidence based review of the clinical management of 'club drugs'. Project NEPTUNE is currently producing online training and resources for club drugs to clinicians across a range of settings including drug services, emergency departments, sexual health clinics and mental health units.

National roles include clinical adviser to the Alcohol, Drugs and Tobacco division at Public Health England and Associate Registrar for Policy Support at the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Dr Bowden-Jones was Chair of the Faculty of Addictions at the Royal College of Psychiatrists (2010-2014), a member of the expert review of ketamine by the Advisory Committee on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD) and chaired the treatment sub-group at the UK Ministerial review of novel psychoactive substances (2014).

He has spoken on the subject of drug misuse, particularly club drugs, to a variety of audiences including the G7 meeting, Home Affairs Select Committee, Universities and schools. He is a trustee of the charity DrugScope.
