Dagmar Hedrich

Dagmar Hedrich is Lead Scientist for harm reduction at the European Monitoring Center for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) in Lisbon.

She holds a Master degree in Psychology from Justus Liebig University in Giessen and completed postgraduate training in the treatment of addictions in 1985. Her interest in the field of drug-related harm reduction responses developed during the early years of her career as researcher in a longitudinal study with people who use heroin and in drug policy coordination in the city of Frankfurt. 

Dagmar was demand reduction officer at the Council of Europe Pompidou Group and worked as international consultant in drug demand reduction and epidemiology for UNODC, UNAIDS and the European Commission before joining the EMCDDA in 2001. In her current position, she is involved in designing EMCDDA data collection, projects and services in the field of harm reduction in community and prison settings.

She publishes on different aspects of harm reduction policies and interventions, contributes to European and international guidance, and serves on scientific expert committees and advisory boards of European projects in the field of harm reduction. https://www.linkedin.com/in/dagmarhedrich/
